Saturn and Titan18 viewsThe seeing is really good tonight so I took a picture of Saturn. This is from a 5 minute video using a Meade LPI and my 114 mm Celestron F8 FirstScope with a 5X barlow. Assuming the camera chip is equivalent to a 6 mm eyepiece, the equivalent magnification = 760 X..... Not too many nights around here that one can use that kind of power!

M45 (Pleiades) and the Moon just before conjunction on 4-8-0814 viewsThis 300 msec shot was captured using a Canon XT and an Orion 100 mm F6 scope. The cloud reduced the light on the brightest part of the moon. This is part of a multiple exposure series documenting the conjunction. Earthshine illuminating the moon was easily visible.Apr 18, 2008
