Sh2-119, the Clamshell Nebula, is a large emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus and is about 2000 light years (ly) from Earth.  Being dimmer than the oft-imaged North America and Pelican Nebulae, this object isn’t imaged as often, although it’s only about 3.5 degrees away from those other nebulae.

The bright (blue) star at the center of Sh2-119 is 68 A Cyg, which is surrounded by a blue reflection nebula.  A planetary nebula, PK 087-03.1 can be seen in this image just above and to the left of 68 A Cyg.

In addition to the numerous bright (LBN) and dark (LDN) nebulae in this vicinity, the open star cluster, NGC 7044, can be seen at the upper left. The nebulosity at the lower left of the image is nebulosity that is on the southwest, and just outside, of NGC 7000, the North America Nebula.

Another great image Greg.

Most of these you shoot I don’t know.

@terri Thanks, Terri!  I enjoy finding the 'targets less imaged', in case you hadn't noticed! 🤣
