On 7/8 I captured a solar flare erupting on the sun. You can also see it here:
My camera was overwhelmed with the brightness of the flare itself so I had to significantly reduce exposure until it was almost over, where I could expose the rest of the surface normally. So when the flare is in full explosion, my background was barely exposed. You can see in the two images befow. The first is when the flare is really bursting out, and the second is when it's starting to subside. The flare is classified as a '2.5 long duration' flare. It took out some short wave communications over the earth via the radiation burst. Not sure when we'd see aurora as a result.
